Gunner Photos

Day 4

Post Amp

Gunner had a really good day today! He even posed for some pictures.

His biggest complaint right now seems to be the confinement. Gunner likes to wander and he isn’t fond of being cooped up.  We are trying to pass the times with a bone to chew and some toys to play with but he is really not amused.  He wants out. He wants to be free.  Guess he’ll have to get use to the idea for a little while!

Everything must be tightening up. Gunner yelped out as he tried to get up this morning. He has an awful lot of staples. Still a week till those come out. Once he was up and stretched a few times, he went about his business without a problem. Morning meds should help some.

It snowed a couple inches during the night and I was so worried about him slipping on the deck. He did fine. It didn’t seem to phase him at all.  He’s very sure footed, considering the situation.

Another day, another pot of coffee!

We’re getting better everyday!

Paws up to all you!

Thanks so much for all the kind words and encouragement, it really does help.

Me too! Its serving the purpose and its cute too! You know he broke his e-collar on a sunday and everything was closed so we had to improvise. Atleast he can rest better with this one.

Gunner you are simply adorable in your Spiderman floatie! Maybe some of these interactive dog toys and treats will help keep you entertained during recovery confinement.

we’ll check in to those. He isn’t much on the toys but he sure loves his treats! Bones and chewies are short lived with him.

gunner you are doing great!!! geesh our humans can really dress us up in some crazy outfits – but if it keeps you from messing with the staples, then it’s all worth it!! we recommend filling the ‘boring times’ with naps, then when you wake up, it might be treat time!! it won’t be long and your life will be more normal and all of this confinement will seem like a distant memory, promise!

He has been scratching at the incision with his hind leg, not good. The DR said try socks on his back feet. You know he isn’t having any of that! So we opted for a tougher loose fitting Tshirt for extra protection of the area. All of this is really starting to annoy him! Naptime works for Gunner on and off, he’s a lazy boy anyway and the meds are making him sleepy too. Treat time works for a sec but not long with him! Good sturdy chew bones help some too but not for long. He’s just not happy being kept in. Hopefully time will pass and he can enjoy some freedom soon!

Thanks Boss! Your cool, too. Listen, if you want to stop and pick me up some treats on the way home that might help cheer me up! A really BIG bone and maybe some Beggin’ strips…..just sayin! Oh and don’t ask Mom, she thinks I have plenty, Grrrrrrrrr!

I pick up my first foster, one week post op tomorrow. I am scared to death, but all of your comments are very helpful. I am trying to learn. It is nothing compared with what he will have to deal with> But, what is life if not for learning new things and helping an abused dog make his way in the world?

awww, thats cool! What breed? I was so scared going in to this and Gunner is the biggest help of all! I was afraid I couldn’t handle him, he’s 85lbs. I really thought he was going to be a handfull but he’s been wonderful. Actually I think he’s helping “ME” to get use to this and work things out. We’re pretty good together. We’re figuring things out and making everything easier each step of the way. We’re almost a week post op and we’re ok. Staples come out next week, not sure about that but we’ll get through it, together!
Good luck with your foster, you’ll do fine! Your willingness to attempt it is power enough to succeed! Honestly, the love and thanks in their eyes makes it all run smoothly!
